GO partners with local churches to help with Bible study, worship, and strengthen church administration and management.

Global Lutheran Outreach

One of our current Mission Partners is Reverend James Tino with Global Lutheran Outreach. Global Lutheran Outreach seeks to connect and match Lutheran missionaries with organizations, communities, and places of service that are looking for missionaries.

Our most recent missionary family was Anna and Victor Salazar and their daughter Anna. The Salazar family returned to Guatemala after serving GO for 3 years. They brought their many skills to Emmanuel and St. Philips churches, teaching music to children, praying with others, and reaching out to the community. They are very missed by GO and the churches, and we wish them well as they navigate their new daily lives. Click here to learn more about the Salazar family!

Prior to the Salazar family, Girma Gutema served GO from August 2016 to September 2017.  Girma is a missionary from Ethiopia who worked with the youth and did some evangelism in the year that he was with us. Click here to learn more about the  Girma Gutema!

We’re looking forward to beginning our journey with our new missionary family from Nigeria, the Francis family. Reverend Chimah and Success Francis (and their three kids) are currently in the process of fundraising, and it has been difficult for them to raise the necessary funds so they can begin serving in Guyana and continue to work that the Salazar’s began. Our experience with evangelism in Guyana has taught us the importance of sustainability within the community. Previously, we have sent short-term teams, which have been great but not sustainable. Instead of sending short term missionary teams for a week or two, our goal is to focused on long term missions that build sustainability of local churches, so that they are able to survive and thrive on their own. We are looking at churches with their own sustainability who are able to reach out into their communities.

Visiting mission teams from the US are able to use GO’s Youth Learning Center for evening Evangelistic Services. We encourage and welcome visiting teams to help with our Educational Programs such as; Functional Math and Literacy, our Computer Repair classes and our new Book Club Class. No matter what you’re looking for, We would love to invite you if you are interested in bringing a Missions Team to Guyana!

Emmanuel Lutheran Church has had a long relationship with Guyanese Outreach. In 2016, our missionary Girma Gutema (from Ethiopia), taught Sunday School and VBS at Emmanuel Church. He assisted church staff with developing weekly lesson plans and worked with the church’s Youth Group. Our missionary’s ability to work with the local churches has helped to solidify the community’s trust in GO’s other programs.

St. Philips Church is another long-time partner of GO.

Living Waters Church is located very near GO’s Youth Learning Center. Pastor Rakesh has assisted Guyanese Outreach with many administrative responsibilities as needed over the years. He has also developed a successful Children’s Bible Club at the local Public School as part of the government-sponsored weekly religious programming.
